Vinny is such a kitty cat, he loves hanging out in odd, small places :-)

Pizza of the Month

September's Pizza: Lauretta's
Steve and I decided to try a different local pizza every month.
This one was from an Italian bakery/cafe on Lake Street in Mundelein.  It is a half-baked pizza, so after we got it home, it only needed 5-10 minutes in the oven.
It was really soft and chewy, except for the cheese on top got nice and crispy.  I thought it was great... it also recieved favorable reviews from Steve and my parents.  Lauretta's also makes amazing cannolis.  This was confirmed by my dad's cousin who I was later told is something of a cannoli connoisseur.

"Q-Bert's Cubes"

These are kind of Op-Art-ey, Tessellation-ey, Collage-ey, so you can touch on alot of different things while they are making these.  We used paste paper, magazine papers, wall papers, and plain construction paper.  They also learned how to draw this design before the trace-cut-glue version.  For the drawn version we practiced shading different values.

I must give credit to lizy bloom for this lesson.  We altered photographs in photoshop, printed them, then the kids drew and painted them using the grid method.  I always get SO MANY compliments on the kids work when I display them.

Why I Started This Blog

Okay, I am fully addicted to Pinterest.com.  I've always wanted to have a blog, but nothing actually got me to get off my ass and do it until Pinterest!  I want to pin my own photographs of my own stuff and the *only* way that I can is if they are on the internet... Hence this blog.  Hopefully now that it has been born, it will evolve into something more useful than just a way to pin my pictures.  Also, I will now get to create a new pinboard titled something like "I made this" or whatever...  I'm excited.

First post...is this thing on?

If i could print this out on a really nice printer and then laminate it, I could hang it up in my classroom...
